Academic strengths
College of science \ Al-Muthanna University has an iraq-class reputation for academic excellence and courses have an academic rather than vocational focus.
Many College of science academics are Almuthanna province experts in their chosen fields in all disciplines of the sciences.plore
College of science education is marked by its strong focus on fundamental and versatile problem-solving skills in a specific discipline, but Almuthanna university respects and values students’ varied talents and interests that often span many specialties. At College of sciences, students can explore more than one field of study while developing the strong professional core that is the hallmark of a College of science education. The university encourages students to expand their thinking in new and exciting dimensions, whether by taking courses from disciplines across the university or pursuing a double major or minor – frequently in a different college. Students can even design their own majors. In a community rich with five Departments, the academic options are as varied as the students who pursue them.
Though academic interests may differ, the university has structured its programmes so students develop skills vital to all professions, with communicative and reflective practice acting as the common threads connecting these skills. In order to excel in any field and lead a life of social responsibility and lifelong learning, students must be able to understand the theoretical basis and practical implications of knowledge and action, convey ideas and information effectively, and be reflective practitioners. College of science instills these qualities in students and gives them a wide array of perspective and opportunities by creating an environment of learning-by-doing, providing them with a strong analytical background and encouraging them to do and make.
Teaching standards
Tutorials are at the heart of teaching at college of science \ Al-Muthanna University. A tutorial is a lesson with a tutor usually taking place once or twice every week. Tutors are experts in their field. Students usually have to prepare work in advance, for example an essay or some mathematical problems, which they then discuss in the tutorial.
Through tutorials, students develop powers of independent, critical thought; analytical and problem-solving abilities, and written and oral communication skills.
A Unique Educational Experience
The university diversity, focus on strong student-faculty ties and commitment to education outside the classroom combine to create a learning environment that is as uniquely College of sciences\ Almuthanna University.

The university’s small student-to-faculty ratio gives students the opportunity for close interaction with their teachers – an essential component of academic success. But while professors spend a great deal of time with students, they also expect them to develop initiative, to critically assess their own progress and to work as teams. Working together, students and faculty create real-world projects with immediate impact. A team of students will work with professors and researchers to design an graduate project. Faculty at College of sciences take an interest in their students’ questions and concerns beyond the classroom. Some serve as academic advisors, while others seek undergraduate assistance with research projects or oversee student-proposed projects.
Equally important to the College of sciences education is the meta-curriculum, the learning that occurs outside classes through community service, interacting and learning in the university’s local community, or even just living in the residence halls.

The department of physics become one of the three departments formed the nucleus of the College of Science. The first batch of physics department was graduated in the academic year 2004-2005. The duration of study in the department is four calendar years (eight semesters), including the two-week spring break and two-month summer vacation. Along with the above, a research project is compulsory for one complete calendar year in the related subjects where the student is examined by the committees formed for this purpose.
The
department grants the bachelor’s degree in physics to the student to qualify
him to keep pace with the technical progress in the field of scientific
research and help him to provide service to the public and private sectors.
The postgraduate studies (Master’s degree), which was established in the
academic year (2015-2016). It consists of two stages: the first one is the
preparatory year. Which is divided into two semesters in which the student
takes some compulsory and other optional courses. The second one is the
scientific research year and lasts for one calendar year for the master’s
students and then the student will be examined by external and internal
examiners and then by the scientific committee in the department to grant the
master certificate. All programs in the department are given in the English
language.
